News

Dear registered users, guest, and participants of the 1WCBC!

Since the creation of the site we have succeeded in achieving rather significant results: the number of participants has gone up to almost 100, that of registered users has exceeded 2,500 and that of daily visitors varies from 500 to 600, on average. We believe that this is not too bad for a project which has so far developed owing exclusively to the enthusiasm of its participants.

Fortunately, we, who believe that chess can be not only serious and tiresome work but also just fun, are not two few, indeed!

Meanwhile, we would like to reward the winners of our contest in a worthy manner and also to put the project on a solid and permanent footing, involving a continuing supply of new pictures, interviews of the participants, interactive polls, etc. All this obviously implies that there should be a serious titled sponsor. Unfortunately, we have not yet succeeded in finding one.

Nevertheless, we continue to work in this direction, and will be glad to have the privilege of your cooperation in this regard. Very soon a special section will be open in our site for potential sponsors. We shall be delighted to inform you about any positive developments in the situation.

We are confident of bringing you joy with new pictures and we hope that our First World Chess beauty Contest will proceed to develop successfully.

Thank you very much for your understanding.

The Arbiter's Board

2005-10-27

Dear registered members and guests of the WCBC!

It is with great pleasure that we watch the site growing in success, attracting more visitors on a daily basis. We are sure it will continue to draw the attention of the media, and indeed will eventually find a backer for a significant prize fund. We are confident we can give chess a better image - with your help!

Unfortunately, we have recently noted voting irregularities: a photo of a selected contender is rated 2700, whilst the ratings of all her nearest rivals are negatively skewed by rating them all at 2000. As a result, we are in a situation when the ratings of the top 25 differ only minimally, and are obviously underestimated. Therefore, we have been compelled to establish a monitoring system behind the voting, allowing us to check for these unfair tactics.

As of today, we will negate these votes, which the Arbiter's Board will consider prejudiced. In case of repeated mallicious voting, the user will be warned by e-mail. Should they persist, we will block them from registering on our site by blocking their IP address. We are also compelled to impose a minimal censorship, both in comments on the photos and at the forum. We cannot and will not tolerate direct insults aimed at the participants.

We hope you both understand and agree with this (unfortunately forced) measure. You are, after all, certainly free in your choice and preferences! However, we are sure you will agree, that voting as described above, kills the very idea of the competition! In the long run, all we are interested in is the successful development of the WCBC, and for this we must count on your help!

We hope this does not discourage the participants; indeed, your new photos are needed more than ever, to give the competition a new impulse and to make the top ten more dynamic! To this end, the board have also agreed another innovation; in order to help each participant better express her individuality, we suggest you answer ten questions of the questionnaire in one of the three languages (English, French or Russian). Your questionnaire will be presented along with your photos and may be rated according to the regulations of the WCBC.

From April 1st, we will publish the official WCBC Top 10 list monthly. Another idea we hope to implement is a series of online video interviews with the leaders of the list! Such interviews will allow the registered members of our site to pose any questions to the participant online. We hope that with your continued support, that we will realize this idea.

Keep checking back for information on our forthcoming plans, and remember, chess is fun! Remain with us!

Dear registered members and guests of 1WCBC!

First of all we would like to express our gratitude for your interest in and enthusiasm for our newly opened competition.

We do believe this is only the beginning, and that many more pleasant surprises await you…

Nevertheless, we would like to draw your attention to some very important aspects of the regulations:

1. Although most of the female chessplayers represented here are very willing to take a part in our competition, not all of them are. Therefore, we kindly ask you not to send us photos without the consent of the person involved. Unfortunately several pictures have had to be removed from the site because of this reason.

2. Copyright. We kindly ask you to come to an agreement with copyright holders before sending us pictures. The unresolved copyright situation has led to the withdrawal of some photos.

3. Our contest is an individual one – therefore we urge you to send us photos in which only one person is present. Group photos will be rejected.

4. To the participants who are absent from the FIDE rating list:
We kindly ask you to state precisely in your Control Panel which chess tournaments you have participated in. Thank you in advance!

5. To the female chess players and © holders, whose photos were submitted to our site without their consent, we would like to inform you that we will remove any such pictures immediately upon your demand. Please just send an e-mail to blitzbrothers@gmail.com.

In any case, we will do our utmost to avoid any similar incidents.

Thank you very much for understanding.
